Like many overlanders, we’ve had our fair share of 12V nightmares. After years of chasing wiring faults and struggling with inconsistent installations, it became clear that the market needed a smarter, more reliable way to manage vehicle power systems.
That’s where Egon caught our attention. For several years, we followed the development of their products in Australia — impressed by their intuitive design and the way they solved real-world problems for off-roaders and adventurers.
In 2025, discussions began with Heiner and Andrew from Egon to explore whether their solutions could make their way to South Africa. Those conversations grew into a partnership, and Trekara Expedition Solutions (Pty) Ltd is proud to have signed an exclusive distribution agreement with Egon, covering Sub-Saharan Africa and Central Europe.
But Egon is only the start. Trekara has a pipeline of new products set to launch throughout 2025 and 2026 — including locally produced innovations and carefully selected products from Australia’s thriving overlanding industry. Our focus is on solutions that make overlanding simpler, more reliable, and easier to trust.
To ensure we deliver on this promise, we have the right person leading operations in South Africa. Ian Caister is our “boots on the ground” — running the day-to-day business, working closely with both B2B partners and individual enthusiasts. An overland adventurer himself, Ian brings many years of vehicle building experience and cross-border travel knowledge, making him the perfect fit to engage with our growing community.
